Unwritten Type Foundry is an independent type design practice built on restraint.

Before a document is opened or a line of text is set, an idea exists only as an unwritten page — pure potential. The practice works at that boundary, turning digital geometry into quiet, dependable tools for reading, editorial design, and visual identity.

Good typography works best as infrastructure you don't notice. Rather than chase trends or dress letterforms in decoration, the focus stays on structure: balanced counterforms, honest proportions, spacing that holds up once real layout pressure hits it.

A typeface shouldn't compete with the content it carries. The goal is font software that lasts and steps aside — letting the work it sets do the talking.

Unwritten Type Foundry is Alfredo Marco Pradil's experimental font development practice — the space where new typefaces get drawn, tested, and refined before anything is called finished.

Who's behind it

Alfredo Marco Pradil is a type designer based in Zaragoza, Spain, and the founder of Hanken Design Co®. He's been drawing and developing typefaces professionally for over a decade, with a body of work that includes Hanken Grotesk, Glacial Indifference, and Nomono Sans, alongside commissioned typefaces for clients like Dell Alienware, Ace & Tate, and Samsung.

Before typography became his focus, he spent years working across graphic design, visual merchandising, and product design — a background that shows up in how he approaches letterforms: less as decoration, more as parts built to fit a system and hold up under use.

Unwritten Type Foundry is where that focus narrows further, built on typefaces developed purely on their own terms, without a client brief shaping the outcome.
